Marginal Worlds
Scratch Immersive EventDEC 2024
Cardiff
Four short and sweet days of developing an immersive scratch event.
Brainchild of Heather Lai.
A performative research work connecting Hong Kong and Wales through acts of searching, storytelling, and collective imagination. Against the glow of neon light, the piece reflects on the slow erosion of language-Cantonese in Hong Kong, Welsh in its own lands -while tracing the disappearance of crafts and shared vocabularies of beauty, inspired by works of Wong Kar Wai for the nostalgia of a place that was never been. Marginal Worlds stages culture as fragile material, held in common, at risk of being extinguished.
